Hi there folks,
I've done a lot of searching and have found some answers about the coding needed to set up prices per total cart weight. However I am very new to coding for open card/coding in general. The suggested changes in coding are very complex and I can't seem to understand where the weight range is entered and the price cost is entered into these codes.
In addition, I see the codes that members have posted, but I don't exactly understand where to find it and in what file the original codes are that I must edit.
This is what I would like to achieve.

0.1-1lb= $5.50 (USD)
1.1-10lb=$12.00
10.1lb and up=$50.00

Could some one please break down the process step by step? I think it would be beneficial to the community as I have seen numerous posts, but I can't understand a single one.

*where is the file to edit
*how do I find the pieces of code to edit
*how do I change them specifically to achieve my desired weight ranges to prices
*how do I update and replace with the new file changes

I greatly appreciate anyone who can help me out, as I have been struggling with this for the last month and I now know I can't sort this out on my own.

On an unrelated but necessary topic, with a freshly installed open canvas how does one set up an all zones setting in the geo zone. I mean more than just inserting a new file and enabling shipping on the item, how is this file generated and edited to encompass all the zones so that the shipping option will show up to all who buy on my site.

thank you to all who can help me finalize my grassroots business

Sincerely,
A starving artist

Hello
I'm not understanding what you mean by editing files
There are no files to edit and no code is required to set-up zone based shipping. It's done in admin
Have you seen this thread
http://forum.opencart.com/index.php/topic,879.0.html

In admin > extensions > shipping > zone
Click on the wrench/spanner on the right and enter your weight and costs per that thread.

You shouldn't be editing any files. You should be in admin
For zones and geo zones, go to admin > configurationg > localisation >

Have I misunderstood your question

Thank you for helping to clear up the editing thoughts. I did not find this post before, I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. It's also good that I won't have to do any file editing :)

Ok the post suggests that I redefine geo zones. How do I group zones into their respective geo zones. I don't have any geo zones except the default ones. So how do I group zones together into a geo zone.

BTW thank you for the fast response
