unable to get the payment module

I am using opencart version 1.4.9.1

I want to add a payment gateway?
How do i do that!! what are the steps?
As something like ebay where from my site i say buy! and it takes me there!!

ebay uses paypal.. enable the paypal module

In extensions->modules i dont have paypal as an option!
How can i get it there!!

yes it is there.. i have enabled it to? btw will it not take me to the payment page if i dnt register with paypal?
coz i have not!
Now i somehow added a google checkout module!
