Calculate Total Savings in Cart

I need the cart to reflect a total savings including percentage saved and amount saved.

Someone in the forum posted code to display savings on the product pages (Thank you) (see attached).

Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

I'm looking at /catalog/model/total/total.php but that's not getting me anywhere.
