I am a new user.  It appears that the version is: Current Version v.0.7.7 rd. 9 October 2007.    I've got to check with Bluehost the hosting company  tomorrow to see if they have the most recent version.

I edited the admin>configuration>settings>local>    to reflect U.S Dollar.
But the when I change the price on the product, the price that shows up in the catalog/storefront is no where close.  I check the quantity and that's not it.  I also check options for any possible optional/addons.

No luck.  Any ideas.  ???

Is it something like 1.8xxx times the price you expect
Go to Admin > Config > localisation > Currency and change the US$ exchange rate to 1
I think the default is something like 1.8xxx

I fear we have too many places where the version has been specifically announced and now we are hardpressed to get the correct version out there. Perhaps we need to start just linking to the downloads page and then it will always be evident to get the latest version.

The $ conversion to $1.0 worked great.  Thanks.  regarding versions.

I asked them this morning and they said the version I downloaded was  0.78 ?  ( dont' know where they saw that .. )

If I download the newest version  0.7.9RC3  from your site,  will it override all the commod / permission settings and all that other server/platform stuff that my hosting company has already configured with their version of opencart for their custsomers ( like me).

IF your newer version rewrites all that stuff ,  and I have to set it up myself, that could be a problem.  Otherwise I'll give it a shot myself.  thanks again.

Personally, I'd never install anything from the hosting company. But all the same, if you are just upgrading, there should be no problem.

But at this point, I'd just wait for 0.7.9RC4 to be released later today before upgrading.

1. Backup your config.php
2. Unzip & Upload the new folder structure over the matching structure on your side via FTP

So:
From: c:\unzipped\opencart079rc4\
-admin
-catalog
-library
-cache
-etc

To: your site /public_html/shopcart/
-admin
-catalog
-library
-cache
-etc

Overwrite everything.

3. Run www.yoursite.com/shopcart/install/upgrade.php

4. Delete the install folder when done.

overwriting ... to the server.

It's asking me if I want to "put dependent files" ???

from the c:\folder  to my server folder.

Yes back up both configs.

The warning just sounds like ftp program wording. Just say yes I guess.

I'm almost there.

1)  there seem to be a number of access files in some of the folders that weren't there before.
LIke within the Library folder for example.  .... go ahead and transfer them over ?

also..

2)

in the shopcart root directory  there are four files

.htaccess
config.php  (0) bytes    .... I backed this one up as you recommended.
index.php
rss.php

should I transfer these over and overwrite the exisiting ones also  ?

what about backed up  config.php  (which is about 2bytes) ,  should I put that back to the server upon completion.  or just save it just in case.

I'm almost there.

1. Copy everything. Even new files
2. No, the upgrade will update the config file as well. The backup is just incase something went wrong. But you shouldn't have to use it.

The following errors occured:

'/home2/yoursite/public_html/shopcart/admin/config.php' is not writable! (chmod a+w)

Could not connect to the database server using the username and password provided.

Please fix the above error(s), install halted!

Got this error when I went to the link .... though it never prompted me for a password.

also, the older version had installed from bluehosts server ... seamlessly.

upon install ... it had created a login and password with the original install.

right click on the config.php file on your server via FTP and change the permissions to 777. Then run the upgrade again.

sorry for all the questions on this.

I am getting the below when clicking the link .... this and want to clarify what they are looking for

Please enter your database connection details.

Database Host:  *             "local host" was inserted
Database Username:  *
Database Password:
Database Name:  *

I"m assuming they want the password username for the actual cart I set up.
or are they looking for the  password to myserver.

also

database host ?
database named ?

what do they want here.

thanks for your help

Oh sorry.. I forgot to say don't overwrite the config.php files.

So good thing we have a backup :)

reupload the backedup config.php files back to their original locations and then run the upgrade link from above.

Well, you were only supposed to run the upgrade. Not the full install, but I guess it probably redirected when the config didn't exist.

All in all it doesn't matter since you didn't have any changes to the store. Now you should be at 0.7.9RC3.
RC4 should be released at some point tonight or tomorrow morning.
