Hi There,

In the comments section of this extension there are a number of warnings that it'll destroy one's website if it is installed but with no explanation as to why this would happen. Is this spam, or can somebody enlighten me? I'd like to use this but could do with some reassurance that is is safe.
The extension url: http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... 73&page=12
I'd be using verision 1.4.9.1 or oc.
Cheers,
Dan

I tried it briefly on 1.4.8b, and it worked exactly as stated. My only concern was that too many results were returned.

I didn't test it extensively though. Why not try it on a local server and see what you think? ..

Oh gosh, don't talk to me about localhosts. They're an absolute nightmare - I've worked through error after error until I've finally got opencart installed on localhost and I get yet another error:

"Error: Incorrect key file for table 'setting'; try to repair it
Error No: 1034
SELECT * FROM setting"

I know this isn't the place to discuss these problems so I'm not expecting a solution. Maybe when I've got the time and patience I'll have another go.

Anyhow, thankyou for the reply and I may just install it on the server but back everything up first.

Ah, OK! Local servers are fine when they work :)
The extension only consists of one file - catalog/model/catalog/product.php - so it's easy enough to backup that file and swap in the new one. Good luck

you should try zend server CE on windows it installed just like any other program and gives you apache php and mysql all already configured in a manner that works fine with opencart and just about any other script out there. Only thing that may need a little tweak is seo urls, but you don't really need to test those on localhost anyways.

I also tried the Enhances Search briefly, just to see how it could destroy my site
I ran it through a virus scan and my virus scan didn't complain
I had a look at the code and could not see any reason anything could be destroyed

I put it down to a couple of idiot mates wanting to destroy someone else's work.
I also noted that they didn't say why. Usually, well-meaning people will post a reason
I didn't end up using it though. It wasn't what I was looking for.
