No doubt it was named at a time when all humans were referred to as 'man' (e.g. 'mankind') and thus could be referring to either gender.

Good work and progress guys.

Is there a revised release date/timeline for 1.5.0?

Just curious so I can decide if I should hold off on putting all my effort in making too many changes in 1.4.9.1 and just sit back & wait if 1.5.0 is not too far away.

Forgive me if this is the wrong forum but I have a question whether or not the mySQL database format for 1.5.0 is changing. We'll by doing our order management/customer tracking "off line" from a local Filemaker database (which imports the mySQL records). Any changes planned to the tables structures, especially orders and products?

Thanks.

İ believe the fırst version of 1.5.0 ıs released when it is ready (İve read somewhere that it could be this month) ;)
Be aware that this is a probably a beta release and could contain bugs. İt wıll take a while before it could be production ready.
İ would go for 1.4.9.1.

Hard to say. Daniel is spearheading this one so I'm pretty much on sabbatical, just making sure the 1.4.9.1 bugs are added to the repository.

Will you release a 1.4.9.1 final anyway?

There's nothing wrong with having a 1.4.10; minor versions don't have to stop at 9. Moodle has equal followings expecting both 1.9.10 and 2.0.

I suspect that 1.4.9+ will have a parallel following to 1.5.x for some time to come; especialy if old themes won't work.

If they're only minor, it could be 1.4.9.1.1 8)

Agreed. Since there are 26 letters (52 if you allow both cases) as opposed to only 9 digits, this gives far more scope for error without resulting in embarrassingly large minor versions.

My extensions are still 1.0.x.z

Maybe we should use codenames for versions like Android does (Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread)
or Microsoft: Whistler, Longhorn, Blackcomb

If my admittedly dubious education serves me correctly, alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, eta, theta, and some others, all come before omega (unless there are more problems than you have hitherto disclosed ?!).

lol While funny, it would only add more problems with people not knowing that Omega is the last letter of the Greek alphabet :P

Me for one. If you had aked me what the last letter of the Greek alphabet was before I just checked on google, I would have guessed zeta. :-\

When I first saw Opencart, it was just changing to 1.4.8 but looking through the release history, versions don't seem to adhere to the norm. I just know that historically, v1 is a good start, v2 is a cock-up, v3 is what v2 should have been, v4 has lost its way again, v5 is terrific, don't touch v6 with a barge pole. ;D
