I have a similar question, I have a site up and running and want to change the theme and a few other things in a test environment. Is it better to create a subdomain or a sub folder? When I copy everything over from the current site, do I need to change the configuration as if I was moving servers? ...

Hello,
I figured out the problem, for whatever reason, the original .htaccess was not on the server, but had been modified. When replaced with the original from the download package, everything worked great!

Thanks Ernie, I'm know how to customize the not found page. But I'm having trouble because ipage has a default 404 page that they use, and to turn that off I have to change the link in the cpanel. Maybe I'm not linking to the right place? When I linked it shop\catalog\controller\error\not_found.php ...

Hello, I can't seem to figure out why my opencart not_found page is not working. I have ipage for a hosting company and they have a default 404 page. It is a vQmod, here is the link to the extension. I changed the xml file to say english as it instructed.
