It's all good, I fixed my own problem. 
For anyone else who has any problems, http://www.devwebpro.com/devwebpro-39-2 ... Magic.html has some good information. Essentially you just have to fine tune your .htaccess file.

Hi All, So about to put my shopping cart live and make the necessary .htaccess changes, but I've noticed that in the configure.php file it stores the MySQL database name, username and password as straight unencoded text. Now the config.php file is obviously crucial, but can the reference in index.ph...

Unfortunately, the name you have chosen for a group "directdeposit" contains 13 characters. One more than the database table allows. If you rename all occurrences of "directdeposit" with (say) "bank", rename your files and the extension settings, it works fine. Lol. Ty...
