Catergory count is displaying double

I have a problem which is really confusing me.

I just browsed the forums and could not find this problem with a resolution.

Basically the product top level is displaying double product count.

For example in help1.png the attached file. You can see it displaying 34 but there are only 17 products.

and this is exactly the same for the phones and tablets (help2.png file).

The back end admin panel for all the products are linked to all of there categories.

For example one of the bold phones would be linked with:

Phones & Tablets
Phones & Tablets > Mobiles
Phones & Tablets > Mobiles > Blackberry
Phones & Tablets > Mobiles > Blackberry > Bold

If there is any help that can be offered please help.

It's because all 17 products are linked to the main category (Networking) + its subcategories (Cables and Routers), so you have:

Networking = 17 products
+ Cables = 12 products
+ Routers = 5 products
= Networking = 17 + 12 + 5 = 34 products in total...

Same goes for the second example...

You need to uncheck the main category from

> Admin
> Catalog
> Products
> Edit
> Links
> Uncheck the parent categories

Now check your website. Please note that you need to check every product in the particular parent category and their child categories. hope it will work for you too..
