Manufacturer or Categories not showing in edit pages

I just installed a fresh copy of OpenCart 1.5 and started adding some categories and products after deleting the dummy content. When I go to add a new product or edit one of my existing products I'm unable to select a category for the product under Links. All it shows is Category (Autocomplete) and then gives me an empty select field, same with manufacturer. This problem is also occurring if I were to try designate a parent category.

Just upgrded to the latest version of OC.

But the autocomplete isnt working at all, when I type into the autocomplete box nothing happens..

ANy help appreciated..

@srubbicus - try typing the first letters of a Category name into that box and see if the autocomplete picks it up, same with the Manufacturer box, then select it with the mouse - remember it will only work if you have already set up the Category and Manufacturer.

@PerfectPrints - I cannot stand the autocomplete and used a commercial extension to remove it completely (except on 3rd party modules which use it occasionally) - try this for $12 - I find a list with tick boxes WAY faster to input into, but then I don't have thousands of categories...

I already installed a mod to kill the autocomplete in these fields but that doesnt work either....

I'm very frustrated...

Yesterday I had a problem where I could not upload files as I was getting an "invalid file type" error, this was where customers uploaded a file to a product..

After exhausting every search I updated to the latest version of OC last night and that sorted my file problem but seems to have left me with this problem..

I've been trying a few things and now I see I cant add a new category either, I can create it but it doesnt appear on the top nor can I assign a parent category because the autocomplete doesnt work for that field either...

Should I upload a version other than V1.5.6.1

after more Googling I finally found a solution..

I reinstalled the same version of OC again and it fixed the issue...

Apparently some files just didn't upload 100%
