How do I change url type

I would like to change the url address http://www.myweb.com/index.php?route=account/login to just http://www.myweb.com/login ?

I want to do the same for /index.php?route=account/register , and product pages /index.php?route=product/category&path=20 for example if I have a product named Kingston32gb in category usb drives then I wouls want the url to be http://www.myweb.com/usbdrives/kingston32gb

Do I have to change the way the files are located or just replace some codes? By the way I am using localhost at the moment to edit some designs before I upload it to live host.
