I am new to opencart, but not to shopping carts. I have been spending a few days customizing my theme, but I have ran into a problem. In the footer I removed the "extras". Now I only have 3 information blocks in the footer, and they are aligned to the left. All I am trying to do is center all of them in the footer. I have tried for about an hour to insert align center code into the footer.tpl, but nothing seemed to change except the text under each heading became centered. I can't figure out how to center the columns in the footer.
Thanks for the help!!!!

Hi, folks, I have the same issue as well.
I changed the footer in the sellya theme and now all are aligned to the right and i cannot seem to change the code to show them in one neat row.
All I did was adjust it as i worked. and suddenly its now wonky.
similarly, with my categories section on the top menu bar, i cannot get the horizontal menu to show like it should they all line up to one side on the right instead of showing a horizontal row as in the sellya premium here
http://321cart.com/sellya/
sadly emails to the support for this theme have nto been actioned delaying us from attempting to finish off which i must do in a few days.
I would be pleased to learn how this was fixed
despite my knowledge of open cart and more
i have stared for hours and cannot work out what to do without destroying my code and needing a reinstal.
I am using a custom maintain page so ithe site is not visible at present
inputs appreciated.

Horizontal "center" options occur in several places as attributes of "align". Vertical "middle" options occur in several places as attributes of "v-align". They're variously controlled or controllable via html tags and via style phrases, in .htm, .php, and .css as appropriate.
Tables can be assigned widths and centered, and within rows the cells can be assigned widths and centered. That can be done via html in-line or via css. In footer.php you can force the matter by using that approach. There are complexities but for the moment they don't matter if you have one table, one row, and three cells. Never mind whether a particular approach has become "deprecated"; that's not altogether unlike decreeing that a reliable vehicle whose license frame says, "Don't laugh it's paid for," must be replaced because times have changed. Use code that delivers without upsetting anything else. You can putter at your leisure afterward with code that when it works will be acceptably undeprecated.
Occasionally a minor change will cause [edit: appearances] that you hadn't expected. Always make a backup before you edit any of these files.

Hello Folks
Thanks to everyone who gave inputs.
I realised my issue was caused by firebug
If you are doing small customisations to a template/theme and you are using firebug to identify the css you need to change sometimes if you are logged into the server at the same time as you make what should be offtime adjusts to css and metrics in firebug so you work out what changes to make in the css and php the outcome can be alterations to your core files.
I resolved my issue by reuploading a fresh copy of the header and footer php and css and now i make sure i am not logged into the server and or admin panel when using firebug to scan the site to do customisations.
Another option i discovered along the line working on other sites is to ensure that the code is copied as mentioned above and saved before any customisations
so before you alter your css, take that small time and download the page or duplicate the css or php on your root file directory and rename one of them with original at the end instead of .css or .php call it xyx.cssorginal
then alter the other one
if there are any undesirable outcomes
rename the one that has gone wrong .css or .phpwrong and then rename your orginal file back to .css or .php
Additionally, when buying themes, query the vendor on instructions and maleabililty as sometimes some elements using bootstrap are sensitive and will crumble if you add a . by mistake...
takes me back to my days in pascal...
one dot means a lot.

It appears that footers in both eurekasprings' http://www.eurekaspringsorganics.com/ (as seen live moments ago in current Firefox) and ccookie's firebug with unstated url are now resolved without further incident.
with apologies Butte, I didn't give a url because I have made a custom landing page while i work on the store so it would have been useless.butte wrote:It appears that footers in both eurekasprings' http://www.eurekaspringsorganics.com/ (as seen live moments ago in current Firefox) and ccookie's firebug with unstated url are now resolved without further incident.
Most of all, I should say a big thank you to you for sending me in the right direction and should have indicated this thread is solved.
thanks v much
gracias

Working on a new site, and ran into the same problem. The funny thing is I can't remember how I fixed it. I have the separate columns centered, but the footer information as a whole is to the left still. Got any ideas?
"Um, continue trying to remember?" If you review the thread while recalling the prior incident, your memory might tumble. Meanwhile, hang onto your keys. You should have separate control (.css or maybe in-line) over overall footer centering.
