Always a new theme?

Hello, just a question...
if I have an upgrade after 1.4 do I always need a new template?
I mean, I just start to use Opencart and will buy a theme, can I use this theme also for a later version ?

Since opencart is going through a bit of an self-discovery time right now, lots of things change. Technically as of 1.3.4, there should be very little needed to make a template. A few image files and css, and only a few tpl files that have changed. The fewer files changed in the template, the more they will fallback to the default as designed. If you find or buy a template that duplicates every single file that the default folder has in it.. don't use it.

that may be fine and good after the next version comes out if the css fixes get integrated, but as it stands now you can't even change half the colors without changing pretty much every file.

it´s a bit confusing here right now, because I tested older templates, and I got no change to get one, all failed. So I will wait. Thanks again for your time.

yeah you came in at a bad time since there was just a major release two days ago lots of stuff hasn't been updated.
