You are totally merciless, I still can't get my head round CMS, simply because there are so many out there. I still have a fright when I discover a new one, what's different I keep asking myself?

I want v1.3.5 because I wanted to see if I could get some functionality with VTiger CRM.

If you are looking at solid CMS' for the beginner, I recommend taking a look at these:

If you have a little more courage, try these:

It seems you have been investigating CMSs, so tell me all about them in a nutshell so I know weather to bother myself. Funny Joomla was mentioned I was just on the site trying to make heads or tail around the hype. I can't say much because I am just slowly taking my head out of Dreamweaver as my Development Environment.

Don't want to sway from the "new release" but isn't JQuery, PHP, Javascript, MySQL, XHTML and CSS enough?? Anyway give it to me in a nutshell, I am now going to read a bit more about these things(what is CMSs) while I await the "BIG RELEASE"

I am no pro in CMS... They are a dime-a-dozen and they are out of control. I only tried silverstripe to see what the hype was about... I was disappointed. my personal opinion is it is one of the heaviest downloads with the lightest featured set. Not a good mix in my opinion. Heavy on javascript and ajax but slows it down with no real advantage.

Typically, I just goto http://php.opensourcecms.com and see whats out there and what others are reviewing. Then I try the demos or install a few to see what works for me.

I will say tho.. since we are spamming our faves... website baker is ranked #2 behind joomla:

That is what I use when I need a website.

http://sourceforge.net/ is one of my favorite places to go. And a lot of people like http://freshmeat.net/ , to find open source projects, like CMS', eCarts, etc.

well while we are plugging our favorite cms systems I'll put in a vote for cms made simple it's ranked 3rd and I've thoroughly enjoyed using it. And before you ask no I do not work on it. I just find it to be one of the easiest ones out there, and pretty much the best templating systems I've ever used.

I like CMS Made Simple very much too. Their eCart isn't too great though. Have you found anything that you like to use with that or do you just bridge it with OpenCart?

Can you tell everyone is anxiously waiting for OC 1.3.5, what with all the other topics being discussed? I must admit I am anxious, too.

And while the topic of CMS is still alive, my all-time fav is Website Baker. It has the best and most useful features out of the box - especially form building and droplets. Who cares if it's a little dated looking on the back end... it does the job well. Flashy jquery does not a great CMS make.

My second pick is CMSMadeSimple, though it's a little tougher to remember where certain changes need to be made.

I've used Joomla in the past, but quit using it about 2 years ago due to it's degrading speed over time, and it's potential to get hacked. I used to get hacked with "Death to the Infadel" screens.

I'm intrigued by a fairly new CMS - PixieCMS. Keeping my eye on that one! I'm also curious to see what happens with WolfCMS, which is a fork of FrogCMS.

Right, I shouldn't have mentioned anything about CMS. Baker, Wolf, Frog??? What next Donkey? Just so I have an idea of what's going on I will test the top three which i take it are Joomla, Baker and Simple. But before that I want to poke my nose around the "BIG RELEASE", is it ready yet?

What about TV programs can anyone say if there will be another series of shameless?

Thanks for the tip on PixieCMS! Cool! It looks very lite and they have some nice themes. Hadn't heard about them. I have tried FrogCMS and like it very much. Also keeping my eye on WolfCMS, but I think FrogCMS will propel forward, getting rid of the need for WolfCMS.

...I got sick this weekend too, so I sympathize with Daniel. Hope he's okay and we're looking forward to the release. ...Is it really going to have "Order Edit, Manual Order Entry"?

you are correct I haven't ever tried to use cms made simple for a site that need a tightly integrated cart/cms solution because the carts available for it are quite lacking. I really mostly use it for clients that want small 5-10 page informational sites where they can edit it themselves.

I have used many CMS systems for my business and clients, and hands down Concrete5 is the best in my opinion.

It's powerful, extremely easy to template, really easy for clients to edit the website, add blocks, and loads more.

The problem with Conctrete5 is that most of the really needed modules are paid modules. At least with SilverStripe and CMS Made Simple, the needed modules are free and open source.

Yes, looking at the admin of that CMS, that is a decent looking system. 10x what silverstripe does and much faster
