Porting from Zen to Open Cart

Hey guys,

I've got a friend who has had Zen Cart store for a while. I was trying to do some work on his webpage the other day, since his present web guy is too busy to do much for him. So anyway I learned how much better Open Cart is than Zen Cart. I setup my entire Open Cart and started adding products in probably 3 hours. I was on his webpage trying to add a link, and create a new product category and I spent 5 hours, with countless searches and couldn't do it.

Anyway he wants to port his Zen Cart over to OpenCart after I explained to him how easy it was, and how awesome the interface was. Now he has a substantial account base, reports, invoices, etc. His visitors are also highly accustomed to seeing his webpage setup a certain way. With a program such as Cart to Cart, is it possible to move all those accounts over and still maintain his custom built look of his site?

I just don't want to tell him, sure everything will be fine and then it not turn out to be that way.

looks can probally easy be created since there are a lot of 2 and 3 collum themes available within reasonable cost.
there are even designers who can custom build you a theme.

porting categories products customers and orders can be done by using the service of cart2cart.
they ask reasonable prices and they realy give a exelent service.

Thanks for your response. I am going to go with cart to cart. Now, is there anything I can do having access to his custom built template that would make it easier to apply that onto open cart? I assume that I could save the file and then upload it, just as I did with my open cart website theme.

With this Cart 2 Cart, since I want Open Cart to replace Zen Cart in the same location, does the Cart 2 Cart do that for me? Or would it be something where I would need to migrate info from zen to open, via Cart 2 Cart, in a seperate directory. Go back and delete the Zen cart info from the directory I want and then switch the location of my Open Cart over to that directory?

You will need to provide two stores already installed: target (opencart) and source (zen cart). Check their page with migration scenarios for details.
Migration itself will be conducted at Amazon servers.
According to the question about domain check this faq. It is the only thing about domains that I was able to find.
