feature box

Hi all

I have got 3 feature boxes on my home page which features the product picture, title and description pulling from the product page. In the product description on the product page i have various words with links to other urls but the links do not feature in the feature box description. I really need to have the links in the feature box description text.DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW.
I would also would like to know how to link a feature box to a external URL. Currently if I click one of my feature boxes it goes to the respective product page? I want to click one of my boxes and they all go to different urls
