USPS Error Package over 70 lbs and Calculating Shipping Cost

Hello everyone I'm new to open cart and am using it in the states. I am trying to set up the USPS shipping method but i am getting a lot of wacky errors with it. I am sure its simple and I'm overlooking something but this is what i am seeing on checkout. "Warning package cannot be over 70 lbs" and when i don't see that warning it is charging crazy amounts to ship the items. I'm assuming you are using the usps module to get the costs in dynamically? Priority mail has a 70 lb weight limit which is why it would be giving you that and one reason I don't use it - the module isn't smart enough to break it into 2 shipments.

I use the shipping by weight module instead and just put in the priority mail costs to avoid that.

I guess i dont understand the installed shipping by weight module. I live here in USA and everything in that module is based on UK.

The problem is the shipment isn't anywhere near 70lbs. It was 25 lbs when the warning pops up and wants to chage me $74 to ship a 4lbs shipment. Something is just screwy and im not sure what it is.

Don't know what you mean. I'm in the US and the module has nothing to do with US or UK. Just lets you put in shipping costs based on the weight of the package.

Is their a tutorial out there for that module because i dont even see a way to edit the cost per lbs.

I know this is a late response to this post... but I ran into this problem as well and to resolve this go into the usps module and set the weight settings to the same as you have on your products... In my products I have pounds set... In the mod it was set to kilo so it was giving me the 70lb warning.... once set to pounds it resolves the issue.
