Internal Server Error

I have to ask you why in my home page appear this message:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Disable the htaccess file and turn off SEO links in the settings area, if this essage then goes away, you have a mod_rewrite issue

Dear Matt,

in my control panel SEO links is already turn off but where is htacces file control?

Its in the root directory, it should be called ".htaccess" , if its called "htaccess.txt", then this is not the cause

No, I am unable to do that, contact you provider to ask for the error log to see what the error is.

Now i can access to my administration page but when I go to my home page I cannot reach my site.
My server assistance told me:

Ad esempio, cerca il file DIR_SYSTEM/startup.php ed esiste il file system/startup.php, ma il CMS non sa che DIR_SYSTEM è system/ e pertanto viene prodotto l'errore riscontrato.

What can I make?

Try reinstalling. I think there is some bad configureation in your server setup.
