store credit ability

I saw a couple threads that are close to what i currently need.
I have version 1.5.2.1
My delima, customer bought a toy that had a missing piece, i dont have a replace ment, customer says they will take store credit instead for a future purchase (of a negotiated amount, iin this case it was 3.00 credit, the toy was sold for 12.00) of a few bucks. For the moment i generated a gift voucher. But I realized there is no normal way to give store credits to customers for similar deals, like a credit for an apeasement for delay in delivery or whatever.
I am having this module installed http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... &order=ASC

but realized I dont think there is any module instaled to actually generate the credit to show cusotmers when they log in.

Any ideas?

Admin > Sales > Customers > Customers.

Edit customer.

Transaction tab is what you want.

ok so if i add transaction for 3.00 it will show up as a store credit for him and when he goes to place a new order and goes to checkout it will pop up?

Should automatically deduct it from the order totals from memory.

Yes. It auto deducts it from the total of the order. And if it were more than the order, say he had a credit of $30 and bought something for $10, it would remember he still has a $20 credit for a future order

You can control when it deducts it in the order totals sorting order as well - if you want it to apply to shipping as well to the products be sure to set store credit to be under shipping. Or above if you want customer to always pay shipping.

There is a free extension to show store credit available when a customer logs in as well.
