I recently moved to version 1.5.3.1 from a very old version (not sure which). I manually transferred the sql data as best I could. I have one remaining problem that I'm not sure how to fix. When a new order comes in, it gets the order_status_id of 7, which maps to "Canceled" according to my "order_status" table. It should have the order_status_id of 1, for pending. In the admin, I've checked the System > Settings > Order Status dropdown and it is set to "pending". Any help on why this is happening and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated, and yes, I realize that there is a good chance I caused the problem in the first place. Thanks!

But have you checked the status setting for the Payment Type you are using?

In whatever payment module you use you can set the order status setting for orders that are succesful. Do this in the admin.

Thank you! That looks like the problem. I'm using Paypal Standard, and I had 10 dropdowns that were all set to "Canceled".

Thanks for the info, I was having the same problem.

Wouldn't it make more sense to set all of the initial/default order status values to their corresponding values rather than having them all default to "canceled"?
