Free gift/product when buying a multiple of 2

Hi all,
Let me try to describe what I'm looking for: "An extension which would arrange a free gift when products from a specific category are bought in a multiple of 2"
Some conditions it would need to require:
1) The free gift product needs to show in the cart
2) The free gift cannot be purchased on it's own, but it does need to be substracted from stock
3) When a single product 'A' is bought from the specified category and a single product 'B' from the specified category this should also be counted as a multiple of 2
Example: I run a tea store with different brands of tea, but for 1 specific brand I offer a free tea glass when any 2 products of that brand (category) are bought.
Let's say I buy:
1 x product 'A'
3 x product 'B'
2 x product 'C'
All three products belong to the 'free gift category'.
In this example it should show in the cart that the customer would receive 3 tea glasses (6 / 2 = 3)
Who understands, and can help me out?
