Ok so I have never tried any kind of major web designing at all apart from making one with publisher...

So i paid a guy to make me a site and it turns out he's just going to alter an open cart template (which i have now downloaded)

however I am completly confused. I have this template and in the zip file i get a folder...

Modern.Opencart.Template.v.1.2
with sub folders of...
moderno
~image
~stylesheet
~template

no .html file or nothing just a notepad that say's the following....

/-----------------------------------------
// OpenCart moderno Template
// Version: 1.2
// Author: imaginetech
// Email: info@imaginetech.com.au
// Web: http://www.shop.imaginetech.com.au/
//-----------------------------------------

Installation Steps
------------------

1. Upload moderno folder to catalog/view/theme/ directory.
2. Log into admin control panel.
3. Goto Admin -> Configuration -> Setting
4. Select moderno at template option.

Logo Installation Steps
-----------------------

1. Create your own logo with dimensions:
Width = 964
Height = 200
2. Name your logo file banner.png
3. You must upload your banner.png file to catalog/view/theme/moderno/images/ directory.

Am i missing something here? how do i edit anything at all? do i need a special program to be able to visually see this template? I tried uploading it onto a website that i own but it just brings back an error message....

Not Found
The requested URL / was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at fashion4all.co.uk Port 80

so obviously i come to the conclusion that i have to be able to make an index.html file for the browser to read but.... how???

Hi Paul,

I understand your problem now.

You need to install the shopping cart software (opencart) on your server.

Then install the template which will change the look of your site.

The template instructions will make sense once you have installed opencart.

Good luck

Very easy,

Download the package and have a look at the install documentation.

Yep, create your database using cPanel or whatever you have.

When you log into the admin interface it will all make sense. Opencart is very intuitive and it won't take you long to get products in, information pages up etc etc.

someone should really do a beginners tutorial or screencast for the basics of cpanel and stuff. It would probably be helpful for many
