Do you think it should be optional in the authorize.net module then?Qphoria wrote:That is technically an "optional" field for Authorize.net.

I agree with this. Why is it required, and how can I edit the admin file so that it is not?
From a post on Zen cart's website (sorry! it was the most data I found doing a web search):
"But as I understand it, the MD5 Hash isn't needed for AIM anyway. It's intended for SIM, in which the initial transaction information is sent clear-text to the Authorize.Net payment page....AIM, on the other hand...sends the whole transaction over SSL to Authorize.Net.
"Basically, you must have SSL for AIM. You need not have it for SIM, but the MD5 Hash is meant to provide a satisfactory, if inferior, level of security to the non-SSL transmission of data. MD5 Hash is considered redundant for AIM because you have SSL...."

Okay, before Q comes back and slaps my hand for not searching the forums thoroughly enough, here is his answer about how to remove the MD5 hash as a required field.
It also works in 1.4.8b: http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php ... 885#p60771
