Help for new categories

I'd like to create two types of categories, for instance manufacturer and models, as in the exemple below....
someone can help me?.......

no, gary.... maybe i didn't explain well... (sorry for my english )
i'm not talking about subcategories but about another category with its subcategories as you can see in the image.... two different and separate categories with its different and separate subcategories

that's definition of subcategories
Just create two categories in admin, click on folder icon and add subcategories. However - you will need code to actually display them in the catalog - as by default cart only displays main categories.

However, there is code for it somewhere. Also it is not that difficult to do by yourself.

i'll try to search the code because, in spite of your trust in my knowledge of php i'm really not able to do it......    or, at least, i'm not able if i don't have any kind of reference......
may i ask you a favour?
