I was wondering is opencart will incorporate some sort of discount for a certain group. For example customer group 1 could be on tier 1 and customer group 2 could be tier 2 and each tier has a different level of discount.

Is this doable?

I am sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong here, but OpenCart already has this functionality. You simply use customer groups in the admin panel (customers/customer group) and then use the discount tab, which allows you to select customer group, on each product to correct the price to what you want it to be for that customer group.

Yes but it is not very handy too.
Imagine if you have to create 4 different QTY discount and if you have 3 different Customer Group like
1-Wholesale
2- Reseller
3- Enduser
then you need to enter 12 times CustGrp + qty + Price ...
It is ok if you sell about 10-20 products but what about 100?
Yes this way you can create your discounts on cent level per group but you need to work more for those cents if percentage calculation is not enough.
For me, easier way for the same function is:
1- Creating 4 different QTY discounts as a "Main Price Discount List" per product.
2- giving a percentage (Example -10% or -10% ) per customer group (in the Customer Group page)
This can even go down to customer level special discount on the same way.

OC then need to check who has logged in and will show, calculate the prices according to the main Price list.
I was expecting an easier and more flexible way from OpenCart !

I think only a few user will want to give discounts off all products.

Some types of products have a very thin profit margin. if you start knocking off 10% or even 5% then the profits go out the window.

Its better to let the users decide there own prices.

Also once the prices are set tyhats it you should not need to change them for a while and even then it will only be a few products.

hi there,

just searching old posts and i really need something like this. i want to implement the following:

Customer Group

Platinum Tier - 50% off default store price
Gold Tier - 40% off default store price
Silver Tier - 34% off default store price
Partner Tier - 17% off default store price
Charity Tier - 70% off default store price

i also want to be able to change any of the default customer pricing and then the Tier pricing update accordingly.
currently have 35 products but by end of March 2010 it will be 500+ and to manage in a manual process will kill me! lol

i dont want the pricing to show as a special price as its not, i just want it to look and feel like a normal store, just with cheaper pricing for the customers in the groups.

is this possible?

Hi,

I second DannyMacD suggestion. Is there a module which allows shop owners to do this?
My store has ~500 items and doing it manually would very time consuming.

Link by Qphoria aint working.

Thanks.

The link worked two years ago when he posted it. A lot has changed in that time.

Search for "group discount" and start looking through the postings that return. Also look through the OpenCart Store for extensions that might help you to accomplish what you desire.

Please use proper English at all times, so that all members may understand you.

3antz I totally agree with you, making that many manual revisions is nuts.
Thanks for the info DannyMacD, will check it out. Maybe I just put my foot in my mouth.
