Hi,

What is the best way to handle recurring payments? It seems that it is simple enough to set up through PayPal, but I don't then see how it is possible to tell easily who has a current subscription.

For instance, if I am sending out a monthly email to all people who have bought a subscription to my beautfiul newsletter, if I filter the mail to limit recipients to those who have bought that product, opencart includes ALL people who have bought it, regardless of whether their order status is "cancelled'. This seems like a bit of a flaw, but perhaps I am missing something and making things more complicated than they need be?

I am finishing up an extension that gives you all of this and more. It's a spin of of Q's 1.4x version but more up to date with API changes. Also, it will have a complete recurring profile management in the admin similar to the screen shot taken from a clients website:

Good. But not sure it solves my problem of filtering outgoing mail to exclude any weith status 'canceled' (or 'suspended' looking at your extension)?

You haven't seen the extension lol. It's going to be based on the Pay Pal recurring payments. Not sure if it's going to help you with your email issue.

I just now started to work on it today. I have all week to produce the extension so give it one week and it will be done.

Actually yes. I've been slaving on this for the past two weeks. It's a MAMMOTH project. I'm happy to say that I am 2 day's away from it being completed. It's not going to be cheap...but will be well worth the money and the wait.
