I need a shipment method whereby I can have both weight and geo-zone shipping rates with the optional nextday or standard delivery is there a extension out there that i can use or will i need to write one all help is greatly appreciated

My Weight-Based Shipping extension can do this, but it sounds like you could use the built-in Weight based shipping module. All you need to do to have multiple options per geo zone is to create duplicate geo zones with different names.

what about next day delivery and such ?

You can create multiple rates, so just name one "Next Day Delivery" and set up the associated costs.
