There is new legislation for websites within the EU that have to give the option to the visitor to switch off cookies.
I know this sounds absolutely ludicrous but that's what some official in Brussels has made into a legal binding thing that has now become law in May 2012.
I know that we need cookies to enable us to gather info on our customers etc but is there any way we can instigate the jquery coding to enable a pop up to appear so that the visitor can read and also disable cookies from the site if he wishes?
Are there any other web developers using opencart and taking this into consideration and if so how are they managing to work around this.
Many thanks
Heard about this not so long ago. Reading up on it, you're OK to use it for your sessions as long as you still make your customers aware of the situation. It's aimed more at sites that use cookies to track page clicks etc (like adsense, google analytics etc). You have to tell your customers as soon as is possible that cookies are required, and give them the option to opt out of cookies too.
Many thanks, I am at this moment trying to update my information page with more info on the Cookies for the visitors, but having updated the opencart to the latest version I am having difficulty and have just posted a question/problem on the forum as I cannot edit anything....bah!!
Many thanks for your help
