We are only using paypal for payment processing. We want to allow people to buy gift certificates and win store credit. But if they try to use their certificates or credit and the balance goes 0 or below then it will send the correct balance to paypal. The only time it works is if they have .01 or higher balance.

Is there a way to have the order process and not go to paypal if the balance is less than zero?

edit your paypal payment module. it has an option to only be available after reaching a minimum amount. set it to .01 then it will not be an option for free items.

Thank you :) It worked great! So many options with the cart, it's hard to know what everything is for.

Hello,

I am having the same problem with my store. I tried the fix you suggested, setting to .01 and what that did was stop PayPal from even displaying as a payment option when checking out.

However, PayPal is my only payment option. And when I try to process an order where the voucher has zero-ed out the total amount of the order, I get an error on the Payment Options section of the checkout area, saying "Warning: Payment method required!"

Is this also a configuration issue? I have searched everywhere but can't seem to figure out why this error, or even the payments section, would even come up if the total was zero.

Appreciate any help I can get on this, as it's the last problem stopping me from opening my store.

Thanks
Mark

Found the problem. I didn't have "Free checkout" enabled as a payment method.

Thanks ... I was scratching my head a bit with this problem.
I set Paypal minimum to 0.01 and enabled the 'Free checkout' module and it seems to work well.
Also worth noting is that the 'Free checkout' option seems to only show up when there is a zero balance which is of course how it should be.
