I remember when i used 1.4.x version none of my information pages were indexed by google, currently i'm using 1.5.x and don't see any problems.
I want to move my opencart installation from /shop to main directory. Can anyone tell, what i need to check, to ensure proper indexing of my opencart pages?
Just make sure that you have SEO URLS enabled and that your .htaccess file reflects that too. Google bot loves rich text content. Take some time to really think about your product descriptions, titles, and tags and they are relevant to your goals. Make sure to place a sitemap.xml in your directory as well. By the time you verify your site with google you can do that at the same time. Your site looks good. Good luck. Also, something that people overlook is how you title your images. It actually does matter and is important. Not all images, just your product images prior to upload.
Thanks for extra tips, every bit helps
I used just convenient names for images, didn't think this can benefit SEO.
I went ahead and already moved my shop to main directory with some changes. Seems only change need in htaccess was rewrite /shop/ to /

Any idea how to do sitemap.xml files in the directory for multistores??? I submitted the sitemaps thru webmaster tools using the product feeds, but when I do an seo scan with different tools, it tells me sitemap: no because there are none in the server folder itself.avvici wrote: Make sure to place a sitemap.xml in your directory as well.
Running Opencart v3.0.3.9 with multi-stores and the default template from https://www.labeshops.com which has links to all my stores.
