When I view order details under Sales/Orders I have to click to "Create Invoice No."
Why is an invoice number not automatically created?
Why is an invoice important - does it generate any emails? Does *not* creating an invoice number impact order processing at all?

Clicking to generate an invoice number is not a problem. I am interested in the background to why invoice numbers are not automatically created and what is their benefit?
Is it some accounting reason?
after an invoice is generated it is included in tax reports, and I would assume other extension modules like quickbooks accounting and so on ...
