Magic Quotes GPC

Trying to install OpenCart using a GoDaddy hosting account.

Got it all set up, except it says the Magic Quotes GPC is On, but in the php.ini file it says it's off.

What is Magic Quotes GPC ... and does anyone have any idea what the problem could be and how to fix it?

Figured it out ... I have the store in a subdomain so figured the php5.ini file should work there ... but it wasn't working with the magic quotes gpc ..

so i created a php5.ini file in my main root directory with magic_quotes_gpc = off; and it worked.

Added that code on root directory but its still on.
