Hi
I just wanted to share something with you which I find quite important.
We can choose a default currency within our OpenCart store. We can also enable another currencies for the customers to easy convert our prices into other currencies. My shop's default currency is GBP but I have also enabled another two currencies. The problem is that despite my shop's default currency is GBP I get orders also in those two currencies if the customer chooses so. I use PayPal so when I get transaction in EUR I have to convert EUR into GBP in order to be able to pay the money into my bank account and I loose money as there are differences in exchange rate as it is probably regarded by PayPal as selling EUR and buying GBP.
Would it be possible to enforce transactions to come out only in our default currency regardless the currency chosen by the customer? Is there any other solution to that?
For the time being I just disabled other two currencies but it's a pity as it is a useful tool for the customers.
Many thanks

You have to allow GBP in your paypal account. Currently it appears you only have EUR setup.

Thanks very much for your reply.
I do have GBP enabled on my PayPal account and that is my primary currency. That is why I was surprised receiving payments in other currencies than my default store currency. There must be some other explanation.
Are you sure that the OC code allows receiving payments only in default currency?
Many thanks for trying to help.
I have same problem.
If I disable the other currencies, my customer may have problem for payment.
It has to be in the program.
Because my site show price all different currencies, but when customer check out has to be change to default currency.
Need help also.

Thanks for your reply. It has convinced me that the problem occurs within the code of the shop rather than anything else. I've noticed this problem long time ago but it didn't bother me that much until I actually counted how much I loose on PayPal currency conversions.
Hopefully the problem will be recognised and solved soon.
All the best.

I just edit as

It worked very good.
Customer may confuse because when they shop product with EURO and without any explanation it change to USD when they check out final step.
So far acceptable, because paypal currency fee and rate are ridiculous rip off.
If you find any problem, please share and solve together.

Thank you very much for your post. I guess it may be a bit confusing for customers but it's better than being charged by PayPal for currency conversions.
In my opinion this multi-currency transaction solution on OpenCart is a bit weird. How can I be getting transactions in different currencies from the shop's default one. The currency conversion should be only for customers' knowledge so they roughly knew the prices in their own currencies. Or the prices should be shown in the default currency along with the chosen currency side by side (both currencies shown in two columns in the same time).
The PayPal charges are so high so it's not reasonable really to be exposed to additional currency conversion charges by rather unsuccessful OpenCart multi-currency transaction solution.
Kind Regards:-)
