Been speaking my hosting company , shared hosting, and open cart is useing too many resources, and was advised that vps is what we need.

our store currently has only 50 products but will be expanding to 300-500 in the next few months.

what do you use, who with and how many products.

Change hosts

I have shared hosting with over 30 stores and currently about 3000+ products with several hundred thousand products to add with shared hosting (business account with unlimited bandwidth).

who is your hosting with. and how much, i see your from usa, and would a us server matter

Not sure if forum rules allow posting hosting companies? I use Midphase though so you can google it.

Don't know about us servers - I ship worldwide so don't think it does.

that doesnt seem bad. i just cant afford to be on something that will be slow.
