Bulk Order Status Updates

Please excuse me if this has been suggested before but a search did not reveal anything.

One thing I would like to see is bulk order status updates.

For example, after you have shipped a group of orders rather than changing each order individually, it would be great if it was possible to select multiple orders via a check box (already available) select an order status (already available) and click apply (perhaps this button could be placed next to the "Filter" button). A confirmation pop up would probably be a good idea also.

If anyone is aware of any mod that achieves this, I would definitely be interested.

Yes, I can see the new mod that you listed on the 11th of April. Seems a huge coincidence that you would have thought of this just a day or two before I posted this and uploaded it the day after my post.

Anyway, I'm not worried about the logistics of who thought of the idea as I have seen it used on numerous eCommerce platforms including eBay. I am very grateful to see you have taken the initiative to create this mod. I think I would have preferred a common drop down selector with the one that already exists (seems odd to have two drop down menu's with the same options except for the omission of abandoned orders) and a button simply labelled "update" next to the filter button.

However, I can see some of the comments on your mod have different requirements so it would be impossible to please everybody. We don't need invoice generation of any kind as we have dedicated store management software for this.

Will look at implementing your mod over the next few days. Thank you.

Funnily enough a client had actually requested it about a week before, and then I built it. I then saw your post and thought "ooo I have one of those, I should sell it" and did, so your post did inspire me to add it to the extension store

I'm not sure what you mean about the two dropdowns, can you explain please?

Not a problem. Not really looking for credit but I just feel it's too much of a coincidence to dismiss the connection. As mentioned, I most certainly didn't think of the idea but did notice it was amiss with OpenCart. It was probably the only thing I missed from our previous eCommerce platform. We do run a busy store so the ability to perform bulk updates is most definitely welcome.

There is already a drop down selector available (under the Status heading) which is utilised to filter the orders. I feel it would be cleaner to bulk update the orders in the following manner:

1) Check all the orders that you wish to update.
2) Select the appropriate status via the same drop down selector used to filter the orders.
3) Click an "Apply" or "Update" button located directly next to the filter button.

Not sure if this is possible but I feel this would provide a cleaner interface.

Ah I see what you mean. The problem is that is for filtering, and as such would likely cause more confusion in my opinion. While it would reduce the number of elements and certainly appear cleaner, people that filter would then have to remember to change that value, and then update. It would also mean the UI elements for notify and invoice (while not required by you) would be separate and possibly easier to forget to select the appropriate options

Now I am not completely clear.

I believe filtering is to bulk filter all orders that appear on the screen. The check box (without your mod) can only be used in conjunction with the delete button.

So when filtering, no orders should be checked prior.

1) Select an Order Status.
2) Press the Filter button.

For Bulk Order Status Updates, the steps are different as outlined above. Personally I don't feel that these functions would clash with each other but I am not sure how others would feel.
