Hi All
With so many PayPal setting in Opencart, which one is the right one to use?
I supposed PaylPal UK is for UK buyers?
What about Payl Direct and PayPal, any difference or recommendation on which to use?
Thanks
Jason

Jason,
As Daniel said, Paypal UK is for UK sellers.
Additionally, the Paypal option in OC is for store owners who want to use standard Paypal payment processing (the user is redirected to Paypal to complete payment transaction). In this case you, as the store owner, just need to enter your Paypal account ID in the admin console.
The Paypal Direct option in OC is for store owners who have a Paypal merchant account and want to use it to manage the payment processing on their site (user stays on site and payment processing is managed via the shopping cart). In this case you need to enter in the admin console the information specific to this option (see Paypal Website Payments Pro for more information).

is paypal and paypal uk really different? Isn't it just a different api server:
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr
vs
https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr
??

Thanks HTH and Qphoria
I got to understand better. When I embark on testing my dummy store using Paypal, I may encounter problems.
For now, your answers are sufficient to keep me going
Thanks!

Hi Qphoria, HTH and All
I am trying now to implement Paylpal payment in my site.
I believe I should choose Paypal (not UK, , not Direct). I did a check at Paypal website and found 3 types of account namely Personal (Buyers), Premier (Casual Sellers) & Business (high volume or business owners).
I am just planning a small biz and not sure what's the outcome. So I guess I need to try Personal or Premier account type(free)
However, I am not sure which of these accounts requires shopper to create also their own Paypal registration/account in order to complete the shopping at my site.
I am trying to find an economic and easier way for ensuring shopper can shop without the need to create more user id and remember their password (including paypal). I am not sure how much this is feasible.
Even for myself, if I need to buy air ticket, I use directly credit card # key-in , and not paypal log-in and then make the payment. In short, any good method in Paylpal that requires shopper to key in their credit card # only in order to make payment?
Can I achieve this by using either Paylpal Personal or Premeir account thru Opencart's Paypal optionby default?
Kindly advise.
Thanks

Paypal is the one that you can set up Personal or Premier/Business. The only real difference is for Personal you are charged more per transaction and only allowed to withdraw $500/month from your account.
To upgrade to Premier/Business, paypal requires you to add a bank account and credit card. With that, the transaction fee goes down and there is no withdraw limit.
You can accept credit card without having users make an account by going into your paypal profile settings and clicking "Website Payment Preferences" and setting the "Account Optional" to "Yes"

I know it's a late reply but have only just seen it and not sure whether this could help others.ameisez wrote: I don't see this option anymore. I have premium account with paypal.

- Log in to Paypal
- Click on the Profile menu (top level)
- Now under Selling Preferences section, click Website Payment Preferences
- Scroll down and you will see PayPal Account Optional
Hope that helps.
