Hi,
I started with an older version (within the past year, I'm sorry I don't remember the version number) and let it sit for several months before I was able to do more work on the store... I came across I problem uploading images files for the products. While I had uploaded images in the past, I am now unable to upload anything.
I upgraded to the most current version, OC 1.5.2.1. I am still unable to upload and display a product image. I have tried ftp uploading, reattributing image folders and still no luck. My store is not active yet... and I am stumped as to why it's behaving like this.
I have an account under Powweb and like I mentioned earlier... I had no problems... now I do and I can resolve them... any help would be appreciated.

OK... I've tried a ton of things, but this seems to be the only thing that has worked...
First I made a backup of the directory on my computer in case I need to restore something.
I used an ftp program, went in to the [image] folder and deleted all files (accept for no_image.jpg) leaving the folder structure in place. When I logged in to the store administrator [the image manager], images were still showing up in the directory even after I deleted the files from the server, so I deleted all of the images individually there as well.
After everything was deleted, I was able to upload and add photos again.
Is this a fix? I don't know... it gets me back operational again, but there is something here that is screwy. I am also a little disappointed that there seems to be so many other people experiencing the same problem, and nobody is responding to it. I wanted to post my results to help anyone who may be having this same issue.

OK... I guess this is not a fix... I am still having the same problem... only that I seem to be able to reload previous photos I had already loaded... but no new photos.
Old photos that worked, can be reloaded and posted, new photos do not work.
This blows.

You need to check a few things
1. That the /image/cache/ folder has permissions set to write to it
2. If there are any images in that folder, check the permissions are set to allow reading
3. If all of the above work, check the error logs to see if you are getting any errors relating to images

What's the difference between the OpenCart Templates and Prestashop Themes?
Thank you for responding... I have tried setting the folder to 755 and 777...
I'll check the file settings as well... & the error logs... that's something I didn't think about.

I checked the file settings again, they were OK, nothing appeared in the error logs...
I got tired of trying to figure this out... so, I reinstalled the newest version of Opencart, new database, and will carry over all the old information to the new install. It's a pain in the butt, but less of a pain over trying to figure out what the deal is... at least this way I feel I can be more productive.
