I am trying to install 2 stores: on in one domain (my site.com) and the other on a sub domain (vip.mysite.com).
The problem I'm having is that when i install the second one, it overrides the first one. how can i avoid this? if they are on different folders, why is it overriding it?

How are you installing it? If you don't know how to do it, we can guide you if you want. Else you can consider paying someone ;) to do the installation for you.

You need to make 2 seperate installations.

For your sub domain site, you need to install it in your "vip" directory.

Don't install over your same database.

Nothing wrong. Just install in a separate database or add a prefix.
