I also switched from cubecart (v3) to opencart, though I did not bother importing my data from cubecart so cannot really help you there. I am taking the opportunity to refresh all my products, write new descriptions and recheck pricing so am re-entering all my products manually.
There are extensions to import/export data into opencart though for customers, products etc.
Good luck on the switch

Running Opencart v3.0.3.9 with multi-stores and the default template from https://www.labeshops.com which has links to all my stores.
What I did was disable my cubecart store putting it in a subdirectory so I can still access data like former customers and older orders - and copy/paste meta tags and other things I wanted to preserve into my opencart store as I go. I posted about how to access my old stores here http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php ... hilit=+oldBasikboy wrote:I wouldn't mind starting fresh but I have quite a bit of work put In SEO wise with my current Cubecart store so I am afraid of losing that.
I'm getting better seo ratings with opencart then I did with cube, especially since I have been able to automate my google feeds, sitemaps, find feeds, etc, I couldn't do with cubecart.
It takes a while to get everything set up and you will take an initial dip in seo probably - but within a week or so of submitting my site maps, etc, this dip disappeared.

I am really excited to hear about the SEO perks of Opencart. I had the SEO Friendly Mod Installed In my Cubecart store but it never seemed to amount to much. I can't wait to be able to load feeds to Google and such. Sounds great!
Cannot really say on that one - it depends on how much value it has to you, how many products w/options you have, etc. Adding a theme takes about 2 minutes and all you need to do is know how to ftp files. If you mean customize a theme, again it would vary by what you need.Basikboy wrote:Btw, just so I am not getting ripped off by anybody, what do you believe a reasonable price would be to pay someone to transfer my current Cubecart Store to a Opencart store as well as add a Opencart theme/Skin i will be purchasing?
I am a firm believer in learning how to do things yourself - even if you hire people for some things - as its too easy to get left in a lurch if that person you were relying on disappears. At least take some time and learn the basics on how opencart is structured (it is very different from cubecart), etc.

Thank you for any help.
i just wanted to say that I was able to migrate from CubeCart version 4 to OpenCart 1.5.2.1, since I felt that CubeCart developing was dying, no extensions ect...
I had 12'800 customers, and over 4'000 products, and thousands of orders in my CubeCart Database.
The move was very smooth and went well.
Took around 5 days.
Cost was $250.
Service was excellent with LIVE chat support provided by Stefan from:
http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... =hellsmash
He was very kind and supported us for hours and hours since we had a lot a lot of extra modules installed on our CubeCart like ticket support, attachments, reward points ..
I can say that we really loved CubeCart and was very safe to handle million of our viewers yearly, but the main problem was finding a developer if you needed ANY change at ALL.
Hope we could help you with this answer.
Warm regards,
Arames T.
Cubecart was great for me for many years and would still be great for those with only one store. My biggest problem was needing the multistore function that wasn't available in it - and their doing away totally with the free version. I would have had to have spent a fortune for 30+ stores in cubecart v5, have them all be standalone stores, and have to still add mods to them. Wasn't worth it, especially when friends of mine that made the jump to 5 pulled their hair out over the bugs

I just finished as well the htaccess redirection since I wanted ALL the OLD CubeCart products to be automatically redirected to the SAME products on OpenCart.
Wasnt that hard i guess ... but took me over 4 hours ...

Just a thought though, do you know how can I remove the Top Menu Categories and replace it with the Information Menu? I know how to add static links, but I would prefer the OpenCart Information Links (since they should be in different language of course).
I shall post my site once I am finished with installing some extensions on OpenCart (added around 8 until now, the coolest one is definitely Visitor Tracker that shows you whos online and abandoned carts live, also great support from Bobby there!)
While the visitor tracker may be interesting for cart purposes, you may also want to take a look at this one: http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... on_id=5342I shall post my site once I am finished with installing some extensions on OpenCart (added around 8 until now, the coolest one is definitely Visitor Tracker that shows you whos online and abandoned carts live, also great support from Bobby there!)

I encourage people to register on the new stores giving them a 25% coupon on their first order (migrating customers included), but since they no longer have to register, I didn't bother moving customers over. I'll let repeat customers decide if they want to re-register or just checkout as a guest.

While the 25% coupon is merchant based, I agree with the above regarding customers to let them re-register an account instead when integrating data.labeshops wrote:I didn't.mrbill wrote:How did you all migrate the user database and passwords from cube cart o open cart?
