Favicon / icon in admin doesnt work??

Hi,

I want a fav icon on my site, i tried adding the 16 x 16px icon in admin>settings>image but this has no effect on internext explorer browser at all im using 1.5.1. tried clearing cahce and that hasnt worked.

can it be added in root? and how do i do it? i have the icon saved as an .ico and a png, i saved the favicon.ico in my root in /httpdocs/catalog/view/theme/plato/image but i have no idea where or how to write the HTML for it as all the forums i have read are for older versions with a layout.tpl

Hi.

You need to make some changes at favicon declaration line in header.tpl to make it show in Internet Explorer but I would suggest you to upload your favicon.ico to your root directory. It should solve your problem and I personally chose .ico against .png for favicons. Because .png favicons lose transparency in some browsers so your favicon don't look good.

what changes do i need to make? i added the favicon.ico to root but not sure on what HTML to add/edit for it to work??

If you uploaded your favicon.ico to your root directory there is no need edit header.tpl file. Try browsing in Internet Explorer, it should show the favicon now. Let me know if it works or not.
