Switching Web Hosts and Moving Opencart Files

Hi Members

I have successfully completed my installation, set-up and test of Opencart on a "free" web host. I would like to switch to a paid hosting service. Can I simply copy the files currently in my free web host directory and paste them into my new web host? I'm looking to eliminate (if possible) as much of the set-up and configuration procedure again. I understand I will have to upload my products again to the new web host.

What is the best way to accomplish this?

You can opt to hire someone to do it for you. Alternatively, you can do so yourself.

To do so yourself, you can move all the files from your OLD web host to your NEW web host. Remember to copy the database over too. Then, in your new web host, configure the data to match the current host in the config.php files. There's 2 of it. One of them is in the admin folder. Update those files with the new links, passwords, usernames etc.

Hi everyone.

I set up http://store.mangotreeuganda.org then we decided to switch to shop.mangotreeuganda.org.
I created a new folder and subdomain, copied everything into it and changed all instances of 'store' to 'shop' in the 2 config.php files.
Everything works fine but some links still go back to "mangotree.org/store..." instead of "mangotreeuganda.org/shop..."
The 'Category' links, for example, stay in 'shop' but the subcategories revert to 'store'.

Any basic info of where I'm going wrong would be greatly appreciated.
