I am very green and I am sure the answer is simple but I am having a hard tie with this. I am using 1and1.com for hosting, Ftp to transfer the files, I have set up a mysql database, and I have uploaded the file to the /public_html folder. I go to the browser and type in my domain name and all i get is the 1and1.com landing page that you get when you first register a domain.
How do i get to the pre-installation page?
Thanks for your help.

Veedub3.
I guess I need to make sure what i did was correct so if someone can help out I would really appreciate it.
1. I set up a MySQL database
2. I set up a FTP account.
3. I downloaded the files.
4. I then extracted the files
5. I logged onto the FTP and uploaded the entire "UPLOAD" folder to /public_html.
This is as far as i got. The open cart instructions says the next step is to type in your domain and you will see the pre-installation page.
All i get when I type in my domain is the landing page that you get when you first register a domain.
Is their another step I need to do?
Thanks for any help.

I meant the actual directory, it's ok that /opencart/index.php and the rest of the files in the opencart directory are read/writable, but is the actual directory that all the files are in (/opencart/ in my example) also readable?
This is the response I just got back fro the Hosting Company.
From the opencart install instructions, it states to copy the "upload" folder to the web server. The next step is to run the installer by typing your domain name and you should see the pre-installation page. Now from what the hosting company said above, the server is not finding the correct file to display the page.
Did I miss a step, or did it not install correctly?
When the instructions said copy the entire "Upload" folder, should I open the folder then move the contents or should i just move the entire folder as is?
Thanks for you help,
Katrina
When I tried to pull your website: http://atlantaprintwear.com it is
showing an Error 403.
A 403 error message on your site means that the webserver is pointing to
a
folder and there is no file or home page (listed below) and as such the
webserver does not know what to do and returns this status.
The server looks in the folder for the first page to display when the
domain
name is entered and if this exists will then show the site.
Please make it sure that all the files should be upload to
(/.public_html).

Ah i see what you've done.
You can access what you need to here: http://atlantaprintwear.com/upload/
You're meant to upload the contents, not the actual thing.
Either way, looks like you have another error (PHP 5.1 only)
