Two Level Menu Bar

Opencart 1.5.1.3, no extensions, default theme. Only change is the height of the menu bar.

Is there any simple way to make the menu bar drop downs from the top level of a two level menu appear neatly?

I.e. not looking like in the below image



Any help appreciated.

Did you resolve this issue and if so how? We are having this problem, and no matter how much "tweaking" in the stylesheet.css will resolve the issue of being able to read the catergory in the second row of the menu bar through the drop down menu.
