I have removed the line as suggested and now the "store managers' link is the link for downloads.
My very basic understanding of PHP is that there are 4 %s strings in order and deleting the link for one, doesn't remove it.
Where so I remove the extra %s that refers to downloads?

Hi, You need to understand that no one have "duty" to assist/ support community question, even though moderator. You need to be more patients 
When you edit:catalog\language\english\checkout\success.php
The %s need to be consist with catalog\controller\checkout\success.php (line 53), because all %s will be replaced with the link.

I guess I am used to the community on another cart forum and I have an urgent cart to complete asap.
Anyway with your help I was able to compile my very first vqmod to remove downloads from the success page!
