Hi everyone

Have used a number of shopping carts and find OPENCART one of the best.

I have 2 shops on the 1.4.9x platform and am developing another using 1.5.3x.

I also have a wordpress platform and associated cart. This cart collects customer information (including name, address, email, products attempted to buy etc..) even when the customer doesn't complete the purchase (doesn't pay - therefore no sale!!!).

The benefit of collecting this information is having the ability to contact the (potential) customer to find out why he/she didn't make their purchase, collecting their email address for marketing purposes and understanding what people are trying to buy.

On the opencart platform, when you look on the dashboard you see all your recent orders, however, when you look at the number assigned to each sale you see gaps in these numbers. This tells me that people have tried to order but didn't complete the transaction. If I knew who these people were then at least I could make contact with them, maybe offer them free shipping, a coupon, a better price etc.. to get them to buy - they were nearly there but not quite!!

Does anyone have an idea how this customer dropout information could be collected. This is extremely vaulable information and should not be disregarded. I reckon I have have over 200 missed opportunities over the last 6 months and if each sale made £25 profit - well, you can do the maths

Help please

Hey there

Answer my own question !!!

On Admin > Sales > Orders there is a dropdown box - click and choose "abandoned Orders" or "Missing Orders" (depending on your OC version), click filter button and hey presto the customer dropout data is there.

These are missed sales - reach out to them and find out why they didn't order, offer them something - a reduction in price or free shipping by way of coupon ....

All the best

Any ideas on if it is possible to automate an email that goes to customers that didn't complete their order?

// I'll start a new thread on this just in case no one sees this hidden here :)

Technically, upon completed checkout process, it may still mean that the order wasn't completed until the merchant sets it to complete when manual orders are involved. How would this be distinguished between the non-completed order from checkout or a non-completed order set as default from a merchant ? ;)
