After a lot of tweaks and help from the forums (thanks guys!), I can proudly say my flagship store - the first one I launched in 2001 - is running well in Opencart...and I'm pretty happy with it!

A few things yet to do ( of course...is a site EVER done?), but there you go.

I've done some additional tweaks and meant to mention in the first post this is also my test site for using static pages for my categories.

If you look at the category pages, you'll see they are not the normal, generated opencart php pages but are html pages I created and linked in. I did this for a few reasons:

1) several seo guides suggest adding static pages to a php ecommerce site to help with seo. I am still tweaking the seo on them, but it lets me have unique page titles, keywords, and keyword rich text on them.

2) Letting me do unique splash pages for the category on this store. Some of my stores have overlapping categories and by doing a separate, html page for them, I can vary them beyond the opencart category description which gives the site unique content, again which search engines (especially google) loves.

For anyone else interested in doing this, what I did was the save the generated oc page on my computer as html from my browser. I created a keyword rich folder in my root opencart directory that I uploaded these pages to, then edited them in notepad++. I had to put back in code like the Facebook Twitter and Feedburner feed generators. I have been manually coding my menu bar on the site before I did the static pages - the drawback to this is that I'll always have to manually make any changes on each of these pages, but really like the result unique content.

One thing I haven't figure out yet is how to include these pages in the site maps - right now, the site map points to the standard opencart category page, though search engines should pick up both.

Would love to hear your feedback on the above and the site.

Not sure why you would have problems with the link - it works fine.
