Hello, great job. But I wanted to ask you where to intervene to ensure that the items in the box, appear not only articles but also categories and subcategories. Just like for the boxes of products OpenCart default. thanks

Great mod. I can't get the child categories to display though.
I have created a category called "Australia". Then I made another category called "NSW" and assigned "Australia" as the parent. But when I click on "Australia" in the "Blog Categories" box in my store, it just says "There is no article in this category".
This is correct, there are no articles in this category, but there should be a child category shown. I am not using the top menu, just the blog category box.
Also, when I try to write an article and use a symbol in the title (such as -), I get an error "Article Title must be between 3 and 64 characters!" even though it is between that many characters.
So if I try to name the article: Name - Location, then I get the above error.

Actually, one of the problems (using the symbol - ) is something else.
I can use symbols, but can't have a long title (and when I say long, it is under 64 characters, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't be working).

Great. Is the "increase article title length" in the database? I've already been editing your original files and don't want to replace the changes I've made. Which files did you edit?

It's ok, I think I've figured out the files that have been changed.
One thing though, my "description" in the front-end (the category description - next to the image) is now showing the <p> tags:
<p>My category description</p>

so, you don't want it?
can you give the link to your site?

I'm happy to have the description showing, but should it be formatted somehow to show as HTML?
It's been automatically added by ckeditor in admin. I would like to be able to use <b></b> tags, etc in the category description.

BTW - I added the sub-category images to the sub-categories list. I think it's good this way. Might as well use the images if they're there.
EDIT - actually, this isn't working correctly. It's using the parent category thumb, not the individual thumb from each sub-category.
Here's my code:
Code: Select all
<?php } ?>
<?php if ($categories) { ?>
<h2> <?php echo $text_sub_category; ?></h2>
<div class="category-list">
<?php if (count($categories) <= 5) { ?>
<ul>
<?php foreach ($categories as $category) { ?>
<li><?php if ($thumb) { ?><a href="<?php echo $category['href']; ?>"><img src="<?php echo $thumb; ?>" alt="<?php echo $heading_title; ?>" img style="vertical-align:middle" /><?php } ?>
<b> <?php echo $category['name']; ?></a></b></li>
<?php } ?>
</ul>
<?php } else { ?>
<?php for ($i = 0; $i < count($categories);) { ?>
<ul>
<?php $j = $i + ceil(count($categories) / 4); ?>
<?php for (; $i < $j; $i++) { ?>
<?php if (isset($categories[$i])) { ?>
<li><?php if ($thumb) { ?><a href="<?php echo $categories[$i]['href']; ?>"><img src="<?php echo $thumb; ?>" alt="<?php echo $heading_title; ?>" img style="vertical-align:middle" /><?php } ?>
<b> <?php echo $categories[$i]['name']; ?></a></b></li>
<?php } ?>
<?php } ?>
</ul>
<?php } ?>
<?php } ?>
</div>
