We are very new to Opencart and are about to start adding our products to the storefront. The default site is retail. However, we also want our wholesale customers to be able to:
1. create a wholesale account (rather than default) which we must approve before they see prices
2. see wholesale prices when logged in rather than retail prices
3. checkout only when their order reaches the required £100 minimum
Can anyone help please as we don't have a clue?!
1. Pop a banner in a column relating to Wholesale Signup and link to an info page where you can set out the terms for becoming a wholesale customer. Ask them to register and then contact you to request wholesale status.
2. use the discount tab in the product edit screen to create a discount for wholesale group
3. A little more tricky, but the checkout buttons could be manipulated to check if the user is (a) logged in and belongs to the wholesale group. (b) if (a) is true, check the total cart and either (i) allow checkout if total > 100 or (ii) disable checkout and push a popup notifying that minimum order is £100
You will probably need someone to code this for you.
Please post in the Commercial Support forum with your request.

Thanks very much for this.
I am fumbling through this process by trial and error!
I read another post where the guy appeared to be saying that you could set a separate url (for example www.wholesale.myshop.com) 'underneath' your default retail store and make the settings such that login is required to see prices and account approval is needed for sign-up. Once you have approved the wholesale customer, they are part of the 'wholesale' customer group and can see the wholesale prices inputted via the default website...
Is this what you mean?
In any case, in response to your points:
1. Does this mean that all users (included retail ones) would need to wait for approval to open an account?
2. I've been doing this as I go along. However, I think I may have been doing it wrong: Lets say the retail selling price is £10 and wholesale selling price is £6. I have been entering £6 under the discount section. Should I have entered £4?!
3. This sound super! How do I discuss this with you further?
I see your comment about posting on commercial support but I'm not sure exactly where I should do so - and I don't want to lose contact with you :-s
Thanks

Hi
1. it means that all customers who register will see the retail prices.
Those who contact you to become a wholesaler will see the wholesale prices when you have upgraded them via admin customers - customers
2. What you have been doing is correct
3. Pop over to my site - click on the little globe on the right of this post and then send me a message from the contact form
