Please help -- is Open Cart right for me?

Hey welcome to the forums.

I have used loads of e-commerce systems over the last year, and tested and spent hours finding the best solutions for my needs.

I have found OpenCart to be simple yet a powerful solution, and my clients love how easy it is to use. There are good support on these forums too which is great.

I am sure that you will OpenCart a fast loading, powerful and EASY to use solutions for your website!

I'm struggling with the same decision. My preliminary investigation shows a number of concerning issues with OpenCart. I'm hoping that maybe the posts I've read are dated and someone can set me straight with th latest info. I'll start with bulk import (import via .CVS). I dont' want to have to enter my products again in OpenCart. I see there is a recent contribution in this area, so that may be a solution. Has anyone tried? Does it work? Also, there doesn't seem to be a shipping calculator available in the project (UPS or USPS). I saw that one gentlemen was selling a module, but who wants to buy anything :--) Also, no google checkout and some missing credit cart processing options. What about Amazon cart processing? I haven't even seen this mentioned. These seem like some basic options that should be there, but may not be. Other than that, it does look like a promising solution.

Thank, thank thank you! This is exactly what we need to know - feedback is always welcome. I will investigate these areas and see if we can possibly make opencart even better and more suited to your needs.

If there is a pressing or urgent need for a particular add-on or feature, please post in the commercial forum - you may find a developer that can perform a simple add-on (for a fee) and it will save you hours of tinkering with other ecommerce systems that may claim they have a feature built in.
If there are other systems with features that you need, please feel free to PM or post the feature and link so that we might port the functionality over to Opencart.
