Hi
I'm using OC 1.5.1.3 (Latest) and have a huge problem that I can't solve. I'm not a programmer so I need help. I'm located in Sweden and have a webshop that will sell only within Sweden. I have set "show prices including tax" in admin/settings/mywebshop/alternatives. Prices are displayed correctly on product pages also indicating the price excluding tax below. The problem starts when going to cart. There each product in cart is displayed including tax but the subtotal is displayed without tax. I would like the subtotal to include tax and wonder if there's a way to configure a file which does the calculation for subtotal globally? In Sweden its law to display prices including tax for residential customers.
I don't know if my problem makes sence to anybody outside Sweden or the other Scandinavian countries but this is a real problem.
Somebody please give me some input in how to change/accomplish this!!!
/Martin

the requirement by law to show prices including tax is forfilled during the product page and in the cart.
The reason why the subtotal is excluding tax, is simply because a sub total IS a total that excludes tax. hense the name "sub" total.
this has been discussed a number of times, and various people have their opinion on how it should look, but personally (and i deal with tax as my job) i have yet to find documentation for any european country which states the checkout process has to show price including tax.
As far as i am aware, so long as the products are clearly displayed including tax, then a tax breakdown at confirmation is completely fine. There are a number of reasons why it is done this way, and a number of tax reasons why this should be done this way.

If you deal with tax in your job then you must know! I don't but still think it's an unlogical display in checkout since subtotal has to be placed as the first post after products in cart and should be a sum of the items above! If i've choosen in config not to display prices including tax the it looks alright in checkout but if I chose to display products including tax then it might be confusing for some customers at checkout. I'm no programmer but thinking about how to solve this I guess that the calculation for what subtotal will represent is done in one file and set as a variabel then used globally in the program? If one can change that calculation to incorporate also the tax that is set on each product then it must be working? Or maybe not? I will only sell within Sweden and have sucessfully deleted all countires but Sweden in mySQL and also all Zones but one which I renamed Sweden. Then I have set up 3 diffrent tax rates that we use here in Sweden and configured all this to work. Now if one only could make subtotal show up including the tax!

can i ask why you have 3 different tax rates for sweeden? forgive my ignorance but i didnt think you had more than 1 tax rate? unless the goods you supply carry a different tax rate i guess?!
I understand what you mean by the shopping cart displaying subtotal including tax, but there really shouldnt be any confusion for anyone since the grand total should still equal the same as the cart basket.
The reason in most countries for the tax to be seperated in the shopping cart is simply so a) people know how much tax they are paying, and in some cases b) know how much tax to reclaim for business purposes.
the second answer has a lot more "what if's" and "whys" for me to go in to now, but basically those are the main reasons.
Im not sure if anyone has managed to display products including tax as the subtotal, but a quick search might come up with something.

We use diffrent procentual rates for diffrent goods. Food related stuff for example has sales tax of 12%. Most stuff has 25% sales tax.
Of course I want tax to be specified but in diffrent format! I would like the subtotal to show tax included and total to show tax included but with specification how much tax the total include. Preferable I would like to have the same specification for each item listed just like in the product catalog when you have choosen to display tax in prices within admin.
I will post an image of exactly how I would like the checkout to display! Will add it shortly! Easier to understand that way!
